Mom in purple and orange bracelet

Okay, here is the finished bracelet for the Mom bead that I posted yesterday.  This is almost exactly what I had pictured in my head when I completed the bead, so I am very happy with this piece.  I made it so quickly because my dear friend Misty said that she liked the bead but couldn't imagine what I would do with it.  Well here it is.  Hope you all like, especially Misty.

Mom in orange and purple

Here is my latest creation with the bead loom.  This time I made a two sided "mom" bead in orange and purple seed beads, it measure approximately 1 7/8" long by 1.4" diameter.  I put some fringe on the ends and now I just need to put it on the bracelet I have pictured in my head and call it a day.  Take a look at the pictures and let me know what you think.  Thanks!

Baby Boy keychain

Hello Everyone,

Ok, so its been awhile.  I have been busy and have a few things to post.  I am going to start with my latest creation, which I made with the thought of three of my friends being pregnant, 2 of which we know are boys.  I created this using a bead loom, right angle weave and fringing.  I love "drawing" on graph paper, the lines are so perfect...so I created this two sided beaded bead keychain.  One side shows a bottle and "binky" the other a football, soccer ball (gotta work on that one a little bit more) and a baseball.  I think that they all came out pretty well.  I know that I will probably get a "talking to" from my photographer friends (as I kind of already have) about the pictures that I am going to post here, try to give me a break, this is the first time I have ever actually tried to use a digital camera, I have about a 5 foot x 5 foot space to work in and my picture editing program got deleted from the computer the last time it crashed a few weeks ago.  So people, let me know what you think, photography aside, and tell me know if I should make more with different scenes.

PS.  This is approximately 1.5" x 1.5"

Face Necklace

Here is a necklace that I made using face beads that I have had for more years than I care to admit.  I had been trying to use these beads in something forever.  I would try to work them into anything that had silver in it.  Then, as I was, once again, trying to get these faces into another necklace that I am working on, I had an epiphany, I wanted them to be the focal point of a necklace using mixed media, and "Faces of Nature" was born using natural gemstones, wood and silver.  I hope you all like!

Beaded Bezeled Shell

Okay, here is the finished necklace to go with the finished bezeled shell.  The actual neckalce part is very simple beaded right angle weave with embelishment.  The necklace is long enough that it hangs right around mid-stomach on me.  I cant wait to wear this out somewhere good, unfortunately most of my clothes are black and most of my jewelry, just like this one, is brown neutrals.  Well, thats okay, I will think of something, let me know what you all think!

Beaded Bezeled Shell

I had been wanting to make my own bezel piece for a gem or something for years.  Well, I finally decided to make one to go around a 2 1/4" round shell piece that I got many years ago.  Below are pictures of the finished piece using seed beads acquired from different places over the years.  I adapted the design from the June 2009 issue of www.beadandbutton.com., Eye of the Twister, in which a peyote stitch bezel was made for a Rivoli piece. On the left is the finished piece and on the right is a sample of the shell before.  Let me know what you think.
As soon as I have the necklace completed I will post that as well for all to see.  THANKS!

Cuff Bracelet, complete

Alright, here are some pictures of the cuff bracelet from my last blog (the pink and cream one).  You will see it next to the other cuff I made not too long ago (green and silver).  I LOVE them both.  If you have read my other blogs you will remember that I said I have the wrists of a 10 year old girl, so I love the look of these chunky cuffs (the pink is 3" wide and the green is 2.75" wide, they are both 7" long and fit me with room to spare) on my little (very pale I know) wrists.  As you can see, the ring that I got from www.trueloveshoes.com, needed a complimentary something, so I chose to make this cuff bracelet.  The idea for the cuff came straight out of BeadWork Magazines February/March 2010 issue, thank you BeadWork!.  It did take me a little while to complete the piece, but being that I dont really work on my craft nearly as often as I would like (I work on it maybe 5-6 hours a week, where I would like that to be closer to 5-6 hours a day, but money has to be made and it's not with my jewelry, YET!)
Please let me know what you think.  I may be impressed with my skills, but I would love the opinions of others.

Thanks :)

Just some thoughts

I can't really think of much bead related things to talk about today so I think that I may just type for a few minutes and see where it goes.

I have been working on this cuff bracelet over the last week or so.  I am making it specifically to match this giant flower ring that I bought and love.  I cannot wait until it is complete.  When I have it all done I will post it on a blog for "all" to see.

Well, my thoughts have run out, so I am going to say goodbye for today and see you all another day :)

First Post

First blog post ever, wow, so excited.

So I started this blog this afternoon because I have some jewelry things in my head and I would like to get them out.

How to make jewelry for other people...It is easier and harder than you might think. It may not be hard to create something that they will like, unless they are a stranger to you, you know what they like. You can pick the colors that you see them wearing most often, or just ask what they like. My problem is sizing. I have a bead board and a tape measure but it is still hard for me to design pieces that are not meant to fit me. I have a very small frame, not saying that I am very small, but my hands, wrists and neck are as small as, or smaller than, the average 10-12 year old girls. Therefore, if it fits me, it most likely won't fit you, and if it fits you, it just sits on my desk not being worn.

I have tried to make pieces that are adjustable, but you just can't do that with some pieces.

Jewelry making dilemma's, this isnt the only one so when I come up with more, or just want to blog about beads, I will be back.
